  JW Blood Ban Checklist: Can Anyone Help Here?

  i was thinking mainly of lee elder, but it seems that that a concise, user-friendly list of the permissible/prohibited blood fractions of current jw policy would be more than a mere convenience... it has life-saving potential!

  the mere fact that the watchtower does not see fit to clear the air and print a simple summary of the current blood fraction policy in a ``question from readers'' article or something.. their failure to do so thus far speaks volumes as to how little regard they have for the lives of their drones especially of the children who, in view of the stagnation of the organization, are the society's most promising -- and maybe only -- source of future growth.

  brooklyn seems to prefer distributing ``no blood'' cards to the flock and apparently has no interest in clarifying a matter they alone have obfuscated by their confusing and often contradictory rhetoric.

  Let me add to my comments above. First of all the file is huge. I think I sent it to Lilacs as a bit map (picture) file. Perhaps someone will have a suggestion on a smaller format that I can use to get this image to Lilacs.

  Next, a word of caution: I am not sure who/where this document was prepared. That is, I am not sure if it was prepared in Brooklyn or if it was the work of a local Hospital Liaison Committee or an individual member of one committee. However, it was definitely presented by an HLC member who was well known by his committee to ‘work” this particular medical center (patients go to this center from all over the world) and he was well known to the medical staff. He had been “working” this particular center for years. What I am saying is that this is no stray, out of control guy, of whom the WT had no knowledge.

  Lilacs has been kind enough to host the diagram I referred to earlier. Remember, this is an “official WT document” or so it is represented to be by HLC members, even though it is not on official WT stationary. I wonder why?

  You are correct, they do not want to clarify these issues until a witness has his/her back to the wall.

  Such a ‘cheat sheet” has been distributed to JWs, but notice the conditions under which it is distributed:

  1. Only when a JW is facing a serious medical or surgical situation
  2. On plain paper – no WT letter head of any kind
  3. These “cheat sheets” are distributed by HLC members to JWs “in a need to know situation”
  4. The verbal explanation that goes along with the distribution of the sheet is “the top two layers (whole blood and its major fractions, white cells, red cells, platelets and plasma) are prohibited; all else is a conscience matter”

  I have a copy of an actual “cheat sheet” distributed by an HLC member to a JW as the witness was talking to the chief of anesthesiology, who along with the chief of surgery were heading up the team that was considering major surgery on the witnesses in question. If someone can tell me how to get the image from my scanner onto this board, I’ll be happy to post the image.

  Barbara Grizzuti Harrison dies at 67

  barbara grizzuti harrison, who emerged as a popular, prolific writer of keenly observed nonfiction with a 1978 book about the dozen years she spent as a jehovah's witness, died on wednesday at a hospice in manhattan.

  she was 67 and lived in the park slope neighborhood of brooklyn.. the cause was chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, said her daughter, anna harrison.

  Dateline - Cardinal Sins

  this friday at 9:00pm eastern daylight time nbc dateline will be showing the story called "cardinal sins.

  " they have not stated anything about the story line, but i am guessing it will deal with the catholic church's recent problems with pedophile priests and the cardinals involved.. this may be a good time to once again email them at: [email protected] to request they air the show prepared on the watchtower society and the pedophile problem among jws.

  Men just can't stop looking at me.........

  ok, i admit, it was a beautiful day here, 80 degree's, sunny, absolutely gorgeous.........well, i was just soooooooooo hot that i took my shirt off and did some yard work topless....my gosh, all the guys in my nieghborhood all of a sudden came out and started doing some lawn work also...one car even ran off the road into a telephone pole, i hurried over to see if the driver was ok, and thankfully he was, as he put his head on my chest to rest.

  i asked him he was thirsty, cuz he was drooling......he said yes, and we went inside and had a nice cold glass of lemonade..

  Blood doctrine: On my death bed being told that all the fractions were approved, but not the whole of the fractions. I could not die faithful to such an absurd set of rules that were obviously man made.

  I also came to realize at that moment that this organization that prides itself on the education of its members had not given them substantial education in this life and death matter of blood.

  Watchtower leadership say We Don't Make Rules!

  an announcement on the official web-site of jehovah's witnesses is causing some 'eyebrows to be raised'.. the watchtower society have announced that they "avoid making rules and regulations beyond those provided in the scriptures, and they do not follow traditions that contradict bible teachings.

  emphasis is placed on personal application of bible principles and the value of a sound, bible-based conscience.. this comes as a surprise to many thousands in the jehovah's witness community who have become accustomed to the changing rules and regulations imposed compulsorily on its members.. it should be noted in the watchtower society's statement that "emphasis is placed on personal application of bible principles".

  this will come as a surprise to many of its members.

  I notice in a sub link to their site the following:

  “Organ Transplant

  Agreeing to an organ transplant or organ donation is a personal decision.”

  So, I can agree to the donation of my blood, a donation of an organ! Right?

  ajwrb has been in touch with the canadian jw father, whose daughter has leukemia.

  we have also had a discussion with his attorney bob calvert.

  legal costs to fight the watchtower society are mounting and another appeal may be in the works.
